Andre Russell is a Jamaican cricket player, who plays for the West Indies cricket team at international level and Jamaica in domestic cricket. He played his first international game as a swimmer, but surprised everyone with his hard-hitting style. Today, Russell is one of the foremost watchmen. He often plays as a low-level batsman, and is regarded as one of the strongest strikers in cricket among the current generation of players. His ability to collect big runs with a small amount of deliveries has made him one of the top players in the 'Indian Premier League'. Andre Dwayne Russell was born April 29, 1988, to Sandra Davis and Michael Russell in Jamaica. Not much is known about his childhood except that he has three siblings.

He grew up poor as his family struggled financially. His mother, Sandra, a schoolteacher, wanted him to pursue higher education, but Russell's heart was set on cricket, so he asked his mother to let him try his luck at the sport for two years.

Russell started his first cricket match in 2007, at the age of 19.

In 2014, Andre married his longtime girlfriend, Jassym Lora, a model and Instagram sensation from the Dominican Republic. The couple tied the knot on a deserted sofa in 2016.

By 2010, Russell had joined the English club-cricket. He has been signed as 'Barnard Green's' in charge of player of the year. The Greens were struggling to get to 'Birmingham League Cricket' at the time. With his series of 799 runs and 39 wickets with an average of 10.15, Russell helped them secure a promotion from the ‘Worcestershire Cricket League’ to the ‘Birmingham League cricket.

In June 2010, playing for the West Indies-A team, he scored 61 runs off 34 balls and snatched 6 wickets against Ireland. With this play, he was selected to the senior team, and also qualified for the 2011 ‘ICC Cricket World Cup’.
