was born in Rameswaram of the office of the President of Madras on 15th October 1931 into a poor Muslim family. He lived with his family in the temple town of Tamilnadu, Rameswaram, where his father, Jainulabdeen, owned a boat and was an imam of a local Islamic church. Kamal has put forward a national program called Technology Vision 2020, which, according to him, has been a good way to change the state of India in 20 years, moving it from a developing nation to a developed country. The program saw the nation's progress in adopting state-of-the-art technology, expanding health facilities, and emphasizing mass education. His term of office from 25 July 2002 to 25 July 2007 was achieved by winning the 2002 presidential election with a large majority of votes. The National Democratic Alliances ’elected him president and was supported by the Samajwadi Party and the National Congress Party. He was lovingly called president of the people as he performed many duties for the welfare of the people and for the country as a whole.
